MDCT OR CT SCAN
A CT scan is a painless noninvasive tool used for detecting diseases and
injuries. It uses a series of X-Rays and digital computer technology to
produce a 3D image of soft tissues, bones and blood vessels. A CT scan
gives more detail than a regular or plain x-ray.
At St. Jago, our multi-detector CT machine enables us to produce scans
with better resolution and details in a shorter time.
If you are or might be pregnant, you should tell the CT Technician.
ULTRASOUND
An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves
to capture live images from the inside of your body. It is also known
as sonography. Ultrasound is a painless and safe procedure.
Transmission gel is applied to the area being examined, then a transducer
is passed over the body part in question creating images with clarity and
detail.
Our comfortable exam rooms and the latest technology make our centre an
excellent choice for both adult and pediatric patients.
X-RAY
X-Rays are used to take images of bones, and other parts of the body
using a controlled beam of electromagnetic radiation.
Usually, multiple images are taken of the part being examined to provide a
comprehensive view of the area.
If you are or might be pregnant, you should tell the X-Ray Technician.
FLUOROSCOPY
Fluoroscopy is a procedure used to view tissues and organs in motion.
During the procedure, a continuous X-ray beam is emitted through the part
of the body being examined, then transmitted to a special screen or
monitor. X-ray contrast agents, such as barium or iodine, are used to better
visualize the internal organs or specific area of the body. Fluoroscopic
examinations offered include:
- Barium Meal
- Barium Enema
- HSG
- Urethrograms
MAMMOGRAPHY
A mammogram is an effective screening tool for early breast cancer
detection and is also used to follow up patients who have had breast
cancer. During this noninvasive procedure, an x-ray of the breast is taken
so that images can be examined for signs of cancer.
Early detection saves lives.
The current recommendation is for a baseline mammogram at age 40,
followed by yearly screening mammogram. Women who have a strong
family history of cancer may begin screening at an earlier age.
If you are or might be pregnant, you should tell the Mammography
Technician
